Things to note sending SMS

Things to note sending SMS

Here are a few key factors to note when sending SMS in the automated processing

Data File Requirements

SMS jobs must be submitted in a .csv file using this file structure
Mobile,AccountNumber,Name,PostalAddress,PostalState,PostalPostCode,PostalCountry,MailingAddress,MailingState,MailingPostCode,MailingCountry,Email,Phone.

Proofing

Proofing cannot be completed on a job in progress, as it cannot be presented on your phone in a true proof fashion. The best way to achieve this is to create an SMS data file that contains just your own mobile number, and test the message format with that file first to ensure all is presenting as expected.

Extractions

Extractions cannot be applied to SMS job types as there is no proofing step to confirm this. Please ensure your file only includes mobile numbers intended for message delivery.

Timeliness

The SMS engine checks for new queued (approved jobs) messages every 15 minutes, and then sends as required. The timing of your job to move to "Completed" depends on when in that 15 minute interval you submitted the job, and how many messages there are to send.

Notifications

If there is a processing error from an invalid file type you should be issued an email notification to the contacts listed on the job.
